The Mystery of Life and Death

We are standing on the road somewhere between birth and death.

And we each find ourselves going over own individual ways on a road that can take fantastic twists and turns, that can lead us to strange regions, through light and darkness, through happiness and sorrow.

The Buddha said:

'Life is continuous movement; it is a continuous manifestation in form'.

And whenever human beings endeavour to hold on to any kind of form, no matter how beautiful, then there arises crystallisation, fixation and breaking up. This is demonstrated by the essence of life, hence death.'

Is this now the mystery of life and death?

No, this is the reality of our world. Whatever path we follow, whatever physical, moral or religious culture we belong to, the death which inevitably follows is not liberating. And whatever our expectations concerning death, it will not provide us with an automatic liberation from this circular course. Death is not the liberation from all those paths along which the human being is driven, but just a part of it.

The mystery therefore, lies much deeper.
