The Riddle of the Sphinx
For man must get to know the unadorned reality of his fundamental state of being. That is if he truly wishes with all his heart, to see through the enormous complexity of delusions prevailing in this world, and on the basis of this insight, wants to take steps to neutralize his involvement with them, thereby opening the possibility of realizing a new consciousness and a new state of life.
For it is only by a complete change of direction that man has a chance of learning to use all the gifts, faculties and powers at his disposal, in the only right way. This is why our attention has been drawn to the Sphinx, who sits calmly through the upheaval and commotion of our times, urging us to seek the Spirit of Truth, the Love that surpasses all understanding that wants to dwell in our hearts.
Then, if man reacts positively to the Spirit of Truth, with a sincere effort, a delicate flower will push. itself up in the desert of life against all odds. And an oasis will be discovered in this desert where before, one thought there could be no such thing.
In other words, if you are searching for truth, righteousness and liberation in the real meaning of the words, and yet you continue to direct your efforts toward the things of the earth by all your striving for ideals and your hunting for an earthly paradise or waiting in solemn expectation to be lifted into heaven after death, then you will most certainly not enter into the eternal freedom and unity of the Immovable Kingdom which is not of this world, but you will limit yourself to a soul, a consciousness and a total state of life which belongs entirely to this temporal world. Whoever desires this freedom will have it granted to him.
