Buddha and the Gnosis

"Insight is the first step of the Universal Gnosis."

Saturday March 21st 2015

Time: 14:00 - 16:00

Every human being one day will come face to face with what he has brought about (karma) and

will be roused from his sleep. Eventually humans will have to agree that it is precisely their thirst

for true life which keeps them tied to the imperfect, transitory life.

The true, holy freedom to which Gautama pointed, was the freedom from the earthly will.

They who liberate themselves from the directedness of the will, free themselves.

But is it really possible to give up the instinctive desires which force us to attach ourselves to transitory phenomena? The Buddha said: "We are not will, but we have a will.... The truth about how to bring an end to suffering, lies in our completely giving up, destroying, rejecting, laying aside and banishing of this instinctive desiring."

Only because of the deep experience that no thing in this world is worth the effort, the thirst,

the desire for it, dissolves. Then we are still in the world but no longer of the world.

And they who are thus liberated, let all observations and experiences: "...rise up consciously, continue consciously and subside consciously. They think only: that is not me, that

does not belong to me. That is not my Self." So said the Buddha.

In his deepest inner being he has experienced that what till then was most important to him, in reality was an illusion caused by his clinging to transitory phenomena.

As the result of this deeply felt experience he now may be willing to give up that which ties him

to the world of suffering and death: the self.
