The path of Gnostic Christianity consider Jesus to be the Sent One who descended into matter to show all of humanity the true path of return to our Original Domain. He made clear this path, and lived it.

Gnostic Christians knew that humanity only needed to follow His example. For them, holy texts were testimonies and descriptions of the path that can be walked by every human being.
