In the September lecture, we learned that of all creatures on earth, only the human being is twofold, namely both mortal and divine. What we call the human being, is the mortal being that inhabits an individual miniature universe, the micro-cosmos. In the heart of that cosmos, we find the central sun glowing like an ember; the Spirit-Spark atom which coincides with our human heart. The mortal human being has been adopted into the microcosm in what we know as our earthly life. But a beautiful task underlies that temporary body: it not only substitutes the latent Original Body of the microcosm, which lies hidden in that Spirit-Spark atom in our hearts. It also has the task of bringing that Original Body back to life.

When this Other-One awakens, it raises its voice. It urges us to seek; it creates that feeling of homesickness and of being a stranger on earth. And so we seek. For what? We don’t know. And so we unintendedly, out of lack of insight, smother and suppress that Voice from the Other One. We cover it up with our earthly emotions, our thoughts, actions which in their turn are determined by our culture, our education, food intake, upbringing and so on. We bring it in lockdown, in ourselves.

During our last lecture, we focused on the nature of the mental body, our thought processes and how we, along with our fellow humans, are trapped in a self-reinforcing nature of our unbridled or cultivated thinking.

In this talk, we will focus on the astral body, the vehicle of our instincts, our emotions and desires. The human heart is their ‘market square’; it’s the place where all these pushy merchants come together and urge us to respond to their impulses. We know all know these impulses: hatred, fear, greed, jealousy and envy, but also love for our children, animals, fellow human beings, the planet. They have one thing in common: they promise us heaven on earth. 

But on that market square, we also find the Other-One in a quiet corner. There, it reminds us of a world of unity, friendship and love. A world not of this world and which has to unfold in each human heart. 

How can we purify ourselves so that our hearts become the place where the Other-One in us can raise its voice? How can we make Heart and Soul resound on a higher octave? How can we turn ourselves into that 'heaven on earth?'
