The Sufi-poet Farid un-Din Attar from the 12th century who wrote ‘The Conference of the Birds’ describes the inner path as a journey through seven valleys. Every valley presents a purpose and a ‘pitfall’ and in every valley there will be a guide that leads us over the mountain to the next valley.
